Why “sewn in Poland” matters - OEKO-TEX and certifications in practice

“Made in Poland”, “OEKO-TEX® certificate”, “safe materials” - these are phrases found on many of our products. But what do they actually stand for? Is it just marketing, or does it make a real difference to what you bring into your home?

In this post, we explain plainly what local production and certifications really mean - and why it is worth paying attention to them, especially when there are children or pets in the home.

What does “made in Poland” really mean?

It is much more than a label. Local production translates into specific, tangible benefits.

Quality control at every stage. When production takes place locally, it is easier to oversee every detail - from material selection to finishing. A shorter supply chain means fewer points where quality can “get lost”.

Known material origins. Using fabrics from Polish manufacturers gives you confidence about what the product is actually made of - instead of relying on anonymous suppliers from the other side of the world.

Supporting the local economy and jobs. By buying products made in Poland, you support domestic manufacturers, craftspeople and local communities.

Easier service and communication. When something requires a complaint, a question or a replacement, you are dealing with a manufacturer operating right here, locally - without a language barrier or months of waiting.

A smaller transport footprint. A product that does not travel thousands of kilometres is also a more environmentally conscious choice.

In short, “made in Poland” is not a slogan, but real benefits for the Customer!

What is the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certificate?

It is one of the world's best-known certifications for textile safety. Its purpose is simple: it confirms that the material has been tested for the presence of substances harmful to health.

What is worth knowing about it:

  • Every element of the product is tested - not just the fabric itself, but also components such as threads and zippers.
  • The tests cover a broad list of potentially harmful substances, including those regulated by law, as well as many others for which the standards may be even stricter than legally required.
  • There are product classes depending on their intended use. The most stringent is the class intended for infants and young children - the closer the contact with the skin and the younger the user, the stricter the requirements.
  • The certificate is issued by independent research institutes, and its validity is renewed periodically, which requires repeat testing.

In practice, this means that fabric with the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certificate has been independently tested and does not contain harmful substances in quantities considered dangerous. It is a real guarantee, not an empty declaration from the manufacturer.

And what do the Łukasiewicz certifications provide?

The Łukasiewicz Research Network is one of the largest research institutions in Poland. Certifications and tests issued by institutions of this kind confirm that a product meets specific standards - for example, in terms of safety or performance parameters.

In our case, this means that selected products - classic and children's loungers - have undergone additional testing, which means they can also be used safely in public spaces such as hotels, preschools and restaurants. This is additional, independent proof of quality and safety.

Why is this especially important when it comes to children and pets?

Because they have the closest and most frequent contact with fabrics. A child sleeps, plays and cuddles up to a beanbag for many hours every day. A dog or cat lies on its bed almost all the time. Their skin is sensitive, and their bodies are more susceptible to the effects of harmful substances.

In such situations, being certain that the material has been tested and is safe is not a whim, but genuine care for the health of everyone in the household - both the big and the smallest ones. Certifications take the burden off you of having to guess whether a product is safe.

What does this look like at DreamRoots?
